In celebration of the extraordinary life and legacy of Elizabeth Taylor, Christie's Auction House has had the honor of displaying The Collection of Elizabeth Taylor to give the public a rare glimpse into the private world of an icon. She was an extraordinary and passionate woman who had many husbands and philanthropic interests. She happily admitted to her love of jewelry, feeling herself the custodian of some fabulous pieces and even designing a line of fine jewelry sold through Christie's. She once said, "my mother says I didn't open my eyes for eight days after I was born, but when I did, the first thing I saw was an engagement ring. I was hooked."
A few weeks ago I had the pleasure of attending a 3-day preview of The Collection of Elizabeth Taylor at Christie's in London, where my sister is working towards her masters. The exhibition displayed her renowned jewels, expansive art collection, fabulous fashions, and other memorabilia before it will be auctioned off in December at Christie's New York.
Here are some of my favorites.
