It's only the 2nd and April showers are in full effect. The past 48 hours have been a constant downpour, making it nearly impossible to get out of bed in the morning (snoozed my alarm thrice this am!). In this midst of this dreary blanket I spotted some blooming tulips alongside of the road. Their vibrant yellow color was a little pop of sunshine in my otherwise uneventful day! Rainy days are downright DEPRESSING, so why not brighten them up with a little bit of color?

 

Life is all about balance. Sometimes you forget to slowdown and do what makes you happy. Appreciate everything life has to offer and take nothing for granted. Figure out what it is that makes you smile and do more of it. A little indulgence never hurt anybody.

Move over Kate. Model-of-the-moment Cara Delevigne is fashion's newest It girl. Girl walked in just about anybody who is anyone's show this season. Not to mention she is the face of Burberry's Beauty campaign as well as Chanel's Resort 2013 campaign. Oh, she also had a spot in the coveted Victoria's Secret Fashion Show. Did I mention she won Model of the Year 2012 at the British Fashion Awards? Girl is unstoppable. My girl crush began a year and a half ago or so while I was studying in London. Cara and her equally gorgeous sister, Poppy, were all over the British society pages and I couldn't get enough of them. The London native's bold brows, flawless face, and effortlessly chic rocker vibe culminate into PERFECTION. Her quirky sense of humor, down-to-earth character, and love for onesies make her that much more alluring. No wonder Rita Ora, Jourdan Dunn, and Georgia May Jagger are her BFFs and she's been linked to both Harrys - the Royal one and the One Direction crooner. All hail Queen Cara!

Bronzed Skulls Can Do No Harm

Naturally, I'm drawn to anything metallic just as much as I am to anything rustic. So when I recently learned of Ashley Tudor's Bronze European Mounts I instantly started mentally redecorating my living room, with a bronzed buck head as the center piece. Her striking sculptural pieces add contemporary flair and a worldly feel inspired by nature to spaces. They are absolutely killer and I would just die to call one my own. The young artist is making moves in the art world, working with designers and hunters to offer a new perspective on taxidermy. If you are ever in San Francisco stop by Coup D'Etat or if you find yourself in NYC hit up BDDW. The artist began hunting 5 years ago to feel a closer connection with her food, which led her on this creative endeavor! It is a really neat process that takes over 3 months... from the hunt to the molding and waxing and final installation. So inspiring!

 

Mononucleiosis takes over

Well I've managed to somehow contract the kissing disease. For the past few weeks I've barely managed to make it 20 minutes without experiencing narcoleptic type episodes (alright, I'm a bit dramatic). Yep, it's been a load of fun. No physical activity or alcohol for a month - senior year - woohoo!!! My spring break plans had included mastering the slopes in Steamboat and nights out at the local watering holes, but that has quickly been replaced by a trip to recover at my grandparents in the Appalachians. Lucky to have my Gigi to bring me hot tea and make me homemade chicken noodle soup!

Should be my uniform for the next few weeks.

Will be spending the next few weeks cozied up in front of the fireplace with a good book!

Metallic kind of night

The sea of shimmering dresses on the red carpet last night was perfectly fitting for Hollywood's biggest night. Film's leading ladies (plus George Clooney's honey Stacy Keibler) were betrothed in figure-hugging metallic gowns that oozed just the right amount of sex appeal with classic Hollywood glamour. I know the trend may seem a little predictable and safe, but hands down these luxurious dresses were my favorite of the night. Every single one of these beautiful ladies owned the night and looked like a million bucks - from Naomi Watts in gunmetal gray sequins to Jessica Chastain in copper toned silk.

Hot, Hot, Hot!

Rihanna was SMOKING Sunday night at the Grammys. Girl's never looked better. My jaw dropped a little more each time she unveiled a new a look. Her long ombre locks were reminiscent of when she first came on the scene... remember S.O.S.?! While her romantic choices of late may be a bit worrisome, her outfit choices are right on the mark. RiRi def knows how to work what looks good on her bod. My personal favorite was look #3. She looked like a boho goddess in her metallic maxi skirt and crop top, and lets not even talk about how banging her bod looked! So sexy.

Coolest Kid Ever

With super hot parents Victoria & David Beckham its not surprising that Romeo Beckham has caught the modelling bug. The 10 year old is featured in a series of uber-chic Burberry ads that actually make me want to make my next investment in a Burberry piece. He brings a charismatic, spunky and youthful approach to the classic British band - and I don't think there could be a better fit. He is pumping new life into the brand. Romeo's latest campaign video showcases the luxury label's brand new runway bag. It looks like all those years toting his mom's Birkin's around have paid off! haha 

I just love his confidence! LOVE that he rocks Burberry's designs off the runway too... he MIGHT be the coolest kid EVER.

Color me happy

Sometimes I wish I was a gypsy. Caravaning across the world doesn't seem like such a bad idea. There might be nothing that I love more than experiencing a new culture and taking in all the sights, sounds and smells of a foreign place. To some traveling is just meant for relaxation or a good time. But for me there is something so stimulating and invigorating about exploring the winding streets of an old European city, the nooks and crannies of a haunted hotel, or the rocky beaches of a Caribbean island. Recently, I've been feeling so inspired by colorful seaside villages. Maybe because it is the dead of winter and I'm ready for spring to get here but I've been itching to visit one of these majestic spots! The colors are absolutely beautiful. I think a visit to such a colorful town would be an instant upper :)

My Wallet is Going to Hate Me

Barneyswarehouse.com is going live Monday. Yep, you heard that right. It looks like the online warehouse sale Barneys debuted last fall is going to be permanent. No more battles over that pair of killer Alaia's or John Patrick leather shorts. Apparently the site will have items up to 75% off. To be honest though, the fall preview wasn't all that great. The merchandise wasn't any different than the regular sale and the discounts weren't that deep. Still I'm pumped but my wallet is going to be hurting soon...

Yep, that's all that needs to be said. When I heard about Hermès plan to team up with Rei Kawakubo of Comme de Garcons for limited edition silk scarves I expected nothing less than this. The collaboration consists of 6 designs that proudly display the tradition of Hermès and the avant-garde of Comme de Garcons. My neck is just screaming for a graffiti and Vichy checked classic Hermès scarf - too bad this limited collection will be harder to score than a Birkin. 

Prepare to be amazed

That was probably the most relaxing and inspiring thing you'll see all weekend. If you want to drift off to an ethereal land of beauty I suggest you also watch CHANEL'S SS13 show. AMAZING. The craftsmanship is breathtaking and each floral creation is more painstakingly beautiful than the last.

Girl Crush: Miroslava Duma

Where do I begin explaining my admiration for this pint-sized member of the Russian fashion mafia (haha, no really). The former Harper's Bazaar Russia editor and founder of style website Buro 24/7 is at the center of the photogs flashing bulbs during Fashion Month - everyone wants to catch a glimpse of her. Her playful yet put-together aesthetic has made her the girl to watch. Girl is def not afraid of color and she can work Louboutins just as well as Timberlands. Oh and let's talk about her hair - just precious! I've had plenty of bobs but never that cute. Best thing about Mira, she's like 25 and birthed a child (Georgie!) and looks like this! I wanna be Mira when I grow up.

Current Obsession: Studs

Ok, so they've been EVERYWHERE for awhile now but my fascination with studs was recently rebooted while trying on Valentino's 'Rockstud' Ballet flat. The classic beauty of the shoe, mixed with its craftsmanship, and touch of spunk has made it this seasons hottest shoe. My Nordstrom's sold out of them in just 3 days! My love for studs rests in their ability to take, for example, a classic cocktail dress and make it a whole lot edgier, but still appropriate. I've been living in my Ralph Lauren studded earrings and I don't think they're going anywhere anytime soon...
